BWF Holds 8th Session of 13th Executive Committee

Beijing Women's Federation () held the 8th session of its 13th Executive Committee in Beijing on February 6 to review the achievements made over the last year and deliver its latest work report.

Officials focused in particular on the construction of women's federations at different levels and discussed their work arrangements for 2018.

At the event, six members of the executive committee delivered reports. The meeting was also attended by 15 representatives from grassroots levels, members of the Executive Committee of the All-China Women's Federation () and the 13th BWF's Executive Committee.

 

 


, a member of the Standing Committee, also director of the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), gave a speech.

Wei praised the achievements of women's work during the last year. He pointed out that women's federations at all levels in the capital should study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of 19th National Congress of the CPC.

Officials should push forward women's federation reform with more attention to the development of women's federations at grassroots levels, protecting women’s lawful rights and guiding them in starting their own businesses.

He also insisted that women's federations at all levels in Beijing should take priorities to study Xi's thinking and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and regard them as their major political goal, making sure that the Party's innovative ideas will be put into action in 2018.

Officials should lead women to make further contributions, promoting the implementation of the basic State policy of gender equality.

Wei called on those present to push forward the development of women's federations at grassroots levels, providing better services to women in the new era by broadening officials' work channels on the internet.

When it comes to the Party's self-discipline, he said BWF should take Party's leadership as its fundamental principles; strengthen women's role in sticking to the Party's leadership; and, improve women's social influence by using innovative mass work ideas and methods.

 

 

On behalf of the Standing Committee of , president Cai Shumin, also secretary of the Party Leading Group, delivered a work report titled Promote Women's Causes in Beijing Under the Guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era, and spread the spirit of the 7th plenary session of ACWF's 11th Executive Committee.

Cai reviewed the new achievements and progress of women's federations in 2017, and commented that all accomplishments were the conjoint results of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee,, and relevant departments.

She stressed that officials should make sure women's federations at all levels strengthen their political stance, be advanced, and follow the needs of the masses.

Cai deployed the work in 2018 for different aspects, such as practicing Xi's thinking based upon the spirit of the in local life; uniting more women to contribute to the sustainable development of Beijing; promoting socialist core values and family ethics; and, inspire working vitality by consolidating grassroots foundations.

BWF Vice-president Chang Hongyan, who is also the deputy secretary of the Party Leading Group of BWF, presided over the meeting.
